I installed the theme and switched on the Static Front Page to see if I wanted it. I didn’t, so I turned it off, but now the blog has no formatting; no post titles, date, etc. It’s just a static page of text. The sidebar’s gone, too.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the theme, but it stays the same.

    Help.

Try switching to the default 2014 theme.

Just done that. 2014 works fine, looks as it should, as does any other theme, but as soon as I go back to fruitful it’s the same as what I explained above.

Delete the Fruitful theme and re-upload a fresh copy.

Already tried it, as I said in my initial post.

Then I can only assume that you do indeed have some database damage relating to the stored options for this theme.

Fantastic! Off to the db I go.

Just remember to backup your database before you try removing or changing anything. You’ll need to look in the wp-options table. I’m just not sure just how many rows this theme might have used to save various options & settings. Obviously, make sure that 2014 is active whilst you carry out any db changes that relate to the Fruitful theme.

It was indeed something in the db, but have no idea what. Restored a recent backup of the database taken before the theme was installed. Then re-installed theme. It worked.

Resolved, but would would love to know what entry it was in the db that caused all the headache. I wonder if anyone else has had problems switching on Static Front Page and then off again.
