Removing qtranslate results in blank pages

Morning,
Yesterday I removed the qtranslate plugin because it wasn’t working well with my version wordpress. After that (I must admid I removed it without disabling it first to check if it was ok to remove) my site only shows blank pages. And I can no longer login!
I’ve searched the net and I tried different things:
– renaming pluginfolder in ftp
– renaming my custom theme folder in ftp
– changed .htaccess file
– added the code to show errors which resulted in ‘character encoding not found’Can anyone help my with this? Because I really don’t know what to do!
