Hi! I love this theme! I do have a few questions though.

I was hoping I could have the header image appear only on certain pages… I don’t think I need it on the blog page, because there are already lots of images there.

Is it possible to remove it from certain pages?

OR, is it possible to have different photos show up on different pages instead of the same one?

    Thanks!!

  • If you want a certain picture on different pages, when you’re editing a page, click on ‘Add Media’ and then on ‘Set Featured Image.’ The image you choose will be the header image for that page.

Thanks for your reply… but I’m sorry, maybe you misunderstood me.

I don’t want just a picture on the page. I want to change the main header image of this theme that’s at the top of all the pages – into different pictures for different pages. Or, just remove that top header image on certain pages. But I don’t see a way to do that without tinkering with the code.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks!

    Hi lilymariec,

There’s no functionality for that built into Hemingway. In order to do it you would either have to add some custom code using Conditional Tags, or find a suitable plugin. I don’t know of one with that functionality of the top of my head, but I would be surprised if one didn’t exist.

Ok, thank you! I’ll look into a plugin for that. I don’t know if I want to go to the trouble to try to write the code.

Anders, I do have another question, please! How do I get the blog set up so there’s only an excerpt…. but with the nice looking “continue reading” box like in your demo?

I did what you said on another thread (someone asked the same question) and it worked, but it added something like this: [….]

    Thanks!! ??

You’ll find a guide for replacing the ellipsis with a link here: https://bradsknutson.com/blog/replace-wordpress-excerpt-ellipsis-with-link/

Thank you, Anders! I’ll try that.

I might be back on this with another question… but I’ll give it a try. ??

Ok, I tried what it said on that link. I did exactly what the guy said… and it didn’t work. My blog still has these: […] instead of the continue reading boxes.

Maybe I put it on the wrong place in the functions.php file? I tried in a couple places.

The funny thing is, on bradsknton’s site, he says “See my blog page to see a live example.” So I went to his blog page, and all of his blog excerpts ended with: […] also!

So maybe that code doesn’t work anymore?

Sorry for being such a pain! I just want to have those continue reading boxes.

    Thanks so much!

    I finally fixed it.

This article was really helpful for me:
