Removing default podcast feed

    I have all of these episodes in the default feed that were added in automatically. I don’t want any of them in this feed.

    What can I do to remove them? Can you provide any direction on the enclosures in the database so I can drop these entries from the posts?

    This should be optional behavior – just adding them all in like this should not be the default action taken on installation of the plugin.

    WordPress (when not using PowerPress plugin) will automatically convert any media web link you put into a blog post into an “enclosure”. This is problematic in a number of ways, particularly if the media you link to is not your podcast or not intended to be a podcast in the first place. There is a ticket in the trac system for WordPress to fix this but nothing has happened with it since 2008. When you install and enable PowerPress, PowerPress then disables this default behavior that is built into WordPress. So as long as you keep PowerPress enabled the problem will not happen again.

    If you are familiar with SQL and phpmyadmin, you can write a query to bulk delete all of the “post meta” table where the post meta key is “enclosure” I would first run a SELECT query and browse through the results first to verify that the records are ok to delete, then perform a database backup before deleting any records. WARNING, DO NOT DELETE EVERYTING in the post meta table, only the records with key name ‘enclosure’.

    Thanks. I did this and it worked perfectly. No more entries in the default feed and I can make sure to include new material on my copy protected feed.

    Can do after we go production and things work out. I will say that your responsiveness has been great and it’s something I will mention when I review.
