Removing data-wpel-link for Internal Links

    This plugin is one of the best to serve the purpose of handling the external links relation. I think there is hardly any similar plugin that offers this many options and is up to date. So, kudos for such a great plugin.

    However, I love to keep things minimal on my site and I noticed that data-wpel-link="internal" is being added to every single internal link on my site’s every single page.

    So, I really want to remove the data-wpel-link=”internal” from all the internal links as I don’t want the plugin to add any class/changes to the Internal links. Is it possible?

    Hi, thank you for your kind words.

    At the moment – no. It’s how the plugin keeps track of things. I’ve added your request on the to-do list but it’s not a 5min fix.

    If that data attribute is interfering with some JS code you can remove it via JS. It won’t affect WPEL because it does everything via PHP. jQuery’s .removeAttr() function will do the job.
