I’m testing the plugin with my paypal account which won’t be the one used when live. The account I have is a business account (although I don’t really have a business) and has a developer account associated with it.

When testing (live and sandbox) I see two options to donate. Using a paypal account or credit card. However, I don’t have an account with the ability to process credit cards (I don’t have a payments pro or merchant account) so I suspect that option doesn’t work.

Is there a way to remove the option to accept credit cards?

Separate question, this is for a podcast and really just looking to make it easy to accept donations. I’d love to offer credit cards as well but the “business” doesn’t have income so I suspect I wouldn’t be able to have a true merchant account. Any advice?

  • Hello and thanks for your reply. There is not an option to remove credit cards, it’s a paypal feature (either they can pay via paypal or use their credit card to donate).

I think there is some confusion here. You just need a paypal account connected so that you can accept donations. It’s up to the customer whether they use a credit card or their own paypal account with funds in it to donate to you. Paypal does everything on their end (regardless of account), you don’t need to process anything.

    Hope this helps!
