Removing checkout fields (phone, etc.)

Hello,
I’m using braintree and I would like to remove some fields when checkout like Phone, Confirm Email and State (there are no states in the country that is supported by the website).
If I delete the fields in the checkout.php, the user always gets a warning “Please fill out all fields”.
Are these fields important for the braintree or the credit card companys? Because I don’t really need them. Can I deactivate them?
