• I had someone that said they would put 5 .gov links on my site. When I got back the report they had added 1,800 links to my site and google kicked me off. I was ranked at 5 in google now I am not even ranked in the top 500. The links were add to a url that was and article on the site. I decided to remove the article hoping that it would remove that back links from the main site. Is there a way in word press to go in and remove links that are not relevant to the site. I hope someone can help.

    Thanks Diabetes Bob

Are the links in comments, trackbacks or … what?

I went to fiverr and purchased the back links from there. I am sure they were auto generated and posted on the urls for the 1800 different sites. I am not sure but I couldn’t find them in comments.

You have to know WHERE the links are to remove ’em you know.

Do you know how to search your comments and trackbacks?

Thanks for your reply. I don’t know where to search for the trackbacks. I do have an excel list of all the urls that are linked. I lost my ranking in goodle because I think that the person who was suppose to give me 5 .gov thought he was doing me a favor by getting all those back links. Google probably recognized that they were auto back links and slapped me. I was hoping that if I could get them removed that I could get my ranking back. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate.

How do you know there are 1800 backlinks? Also, what pages are they going to? Just your home page?

Gabe: I received an excel file with all of the urls that linked back to my bolg. the links went to an article on my site. I checked the urls to see if i had a back link from them and they did have a link. I went into word press and deleted the article from my blog. I don’t know if that was the right thing to do or not. I was hoping by deleting the article that the back links would no longer go to the site but I think that they probably do. that is why I wanted to delete the links from those site if possible. Thanks for your reply. I hope that you might be able to help

    Oh. Okay.

You cannot control someone else’s site. If they linked to you a million times, there’s sod all to be done about it (except learn that there’s no fast way to make a buck and next time, don’t sell them ANYTHING).

I went to fiverr and purchased the back links from there.

Apropos of this, please check your credit card statement CAREFULLY next time it comes. Make sure they charged you the right amount, and aren’t continuing to charge.

I might be inclined to report them as frauds (though since you knowingly paid them, talk to your credit card company about how to do that).

It’s quite possible that you got blacklisted, just as you suspected. I would probably remove the post as well since there’s little to lose at this point. If you haven’t done it yet, I would also try to reach out to the vendor to and ask to be removed from those sites.

Not even sure why you would get 1800 backlinks unless they are motivated to charge you more.

At worst, it’s a good lesson learned right? Organic link building is the way to go!

Gabe and Ipstenu: thanks for the input. i did delete the article from my website but those links are still active and go to a page that say You 404’d it. Gnarly, dude. and it links to my home page. I don’t know how long I will be blacklisted for but I am trying to get information about the subject. I took me along time to get index to # 5 ow I will probably have to start all over. Thanks for the help have a Great Day

Make a google webmaster account, if you have not already, and get that straightened out. You can request a re-check.
