    Hello there –

I deleted the Jetpack plugin months ago and am still finding files while cleaning up my database. Can you please tell me if all these files can be safely deleted and confirm that there are no WooCommerce dependencies?

    Hello @jwest444 ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

We can’t provide specific advice on which database tables to delete and which ones to keep, as this can vary greatly depending on your specific setup and plugins installed, including WooCommercee and some of its extensions that are integrated in some way with Jetpack.

I recommend using a database cleanup plugin to safely and effectively remove unnecessary database entries.

You could also install our in-house plugin to remove old Jetpack data.

Please install and activate this plugin: https://github.com/automattic/jetpack-addons/archive/add/jp-rm-options.zip

Once activated, any stale Jetpack data will be removed from your site. Deactivate the plugin at the end.

I installed the in-house plugin, activated it and then deleted it. It did not work. All the Jetpack files are still there even after I cleared my site cache, as well as my server cache.

I’ve found other questions in this forum about removing old Jetpack files and was able to successfully remove files based on those answers. These remaining files are found in the following tables: options, user, postmeta, and posts.

I use Storefront theme, Storefront Powerpack (only Mega Menus and Product Hero), WooCommerce PayPal Payments, and the Update Manager. Do those interact with any of the old Jetpack files listed?

I’m trying to harden my WordPress security and having these old Jetpack files seem risky.

    Hi there,

I installed the in-house plugin, activated it and then deleted it. It did not work. All the Jetpack files are still there even after I cleared my site cache, as well as my server cache.

When you uninstall Jetpack, a cleanup routine is triggered to remove most of Jetpack’s data, but it seems some items have been left behind in your case. This can happen, especially if other plugins rely on a Jetpack connection or Jetpack packages. For example, some WooCommerce extensions might interact with Jetpack data, which could explain why some data persists.

We are aware that the cleanup process may not always capture all data, particularly in tables like options, user, postmeta, and posts. We’re looking into improving this to ensure a more thorough cleanup upon uninstallation. You can track our progress and contribute to the discussion on this topic at this GitHub issue: https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/10834.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance this process.

    Best,
