I’m not sure if I misunderstand what the plugin does or if it is not working correctly. I am reorganizing my site so let’s say I have a category called animals and I want to move all the animal posts to a category called chickens. I still want the posts in the animal category but I want to add the posts from animals to a new category called chickens. that means each of the posts will be in the animals and chicken categories.

I use the top section and in the left select the category animals and on the right hand side I select chickens and select the second radio button from the right that that says Don’t remove them if the posts are in other categories and click the bulk move button.

To me what should happen is what I described above. What happens is that my posts are in the animals and chicken categories but any other categories that the post was assigned are removed.

I tried it with only a very small category to test and then I tested it with another small category. both times it removed all the other categories.

Why is is removing the other categories?

  • I believe what you want to do is built into WP.

    Create the CHICKENS category

Go into POSTS and then filter by ANIMALS (this will show all posts in ANIMALS)

Select all the posts (checkbox at top)

Change the DROP DOWN from BULK ACTIONS to EDIT, Click APPLY

From next screen you can then select CHICKENS as an additional category.

My plugin works a little different. My plugin “moves” post. Let me try to explain it with an example.

Let’s say you have a post that belongs to two categories – Animals and Birds and you have chosen Animals in the left dropdown and Chickens in the right dropdown.

If you choose the “If the post contains other categories, then Remove them” radio button then the post will have only “Chickens” category after the process.

If you choose the “If the post contains other categories, then Don’t Remove them” radio button then the post will have both “Birds” and “Chickens” category after the process.

    Hope this clarrifies the working.

@jfrenaye. Thanks I have been playing around with it. I did a whole bunch the good old fashioned way but I have more to do so thanks.

@sudar. Thanks for clarifying. I did understand how it works and that’s way it wasn’t doing what I needed it to.
