The default podcast term was introduced in 3.0 to replace the Default non-term feed (/feed/podcast
). In previous plugin versions, there was a virtual Default podcast, that had a feed but didn’t have a podcast term. In other words, any episodes that weren’t assigned to a specific podcast were automatically categorized as default podcast episodes.
This setup caused various complications, such as the inability to make the default podcast private or integrate it with membership plugins.
To address these issues, we replaced the virtual “default” podcast with a real podcast term in version 3.0. While you cannot delete or reassign this default podcast, you have the option to either ignore it (if you’re using another podcast) or, if you prefer to maintain a single podcast, reassign all episodes to the default podcast. Additionally, you can customize its slug and name to match the configuration you used previously with the non-default podcast term.
