removes screen options from custom post type

Using custom post types and taxonomies. ACF is removing screen options from different pages. Specifically it removes “the excerpt” screen option from a portfolio custom post type after I add a custom field to that post type. I turn off the plugin, and “the excerpt” screen option reappears.
