Removed <?php wp_footer(); ?>, comments text link disappeared

  • Okay basically my blog was hacked into and my Google cache started showing spam links. After days and nights of endless sleep I upgraded wordpress to 2.5.1 and was told by someone having a similar problem to remove the <?php wp_footer(); ?> code from the footer.

    However when I did that, the comments text link on the index page (that displays the number of comments for the post and when you click on it takes you to the comments section of the post) disappeared.

    So I’m wondering is there anyway to display the comments text link without having the <?php wp_footer(); ?> in your footer. Someone please help.

    Then you should ask for further help from that “someone” – if that person knows better than the whole WP community.
