make sure comments are not allowed for the posts;

– dahsboard – setting – discussion; untick ‘ Allow people to post comments on new articles’ (will only have effect on posts published after the change)

– dashboard – posts – all posts; click ‘quickedit’ below each post title; untick ‘allow comments’

if that alone does not work, try to add this to style.css of the child theme:

.home .entry-header .comments-link { display: none; }
