Remove unneeded fields from Publish metabox

    Hi, I just noticed that when I’m editing a Widget Block, the “Publish” meta-box on the right contains these fields:

    Status
    Visibility
    Publish on

    However, they don’t actually do anything. If I change the Status to Draft, or the Visibility to Password Protected or Private, the widget still displays just fine on the website (which is a good thing of course!)

    I would suggest removing those three fields completely from the Publish meta-box as they are unnecessary and may cause confusion (or maybe they do work one day and break the layout of the site?)

    A widget should never need to be set to draft, or private or password-protected, nor even need to be set to a future “publish on” date. A widget should always be visible, and if the developer doesn’t want it showing on the site, he/she can simply remove the widget itself from the sidebar on the Widgets page. Right? ??

    Hi there,

    Great suggestions. The reason these lines are still visible is because they can only be removed by hacking the WordPress code or by having them removed through some JavaScript. In other words, WordPress doesn’t allow an easy way to have those fields removed by plugins.

    I will look into adding this to a next version of the plugin.

    Oh right, good to know. The reason I mentioned it was because I saw another, similar plugin that did hide those fields already, so I figured it must be possible. ??
