    Hi there,

I wondered if there is any chance to remove the Tracking Parameters like ?relatedposts=1 and origin from the urls? Iam a bit afraid that Google could pick up that urls and put it in the index. Also my 404 Redirection Plugin shows 404 Errors on some deleted Pages for that tracking url.

    Sincerely,

    Stefan

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

You’ll need to use JavaScript to remove the tracking parameters, as those are added via JavaScript, here. If you enqueue your own JavaScript file in the footer of your site, after Jetpack’s own JavaScript file is added, you should be able to remove the tracking URLs added by Jetpack.

Iam a bit afraid that Google could pick up that urls and put it in the index.

That won’t happen, for a few reasons:

    • The tracking URLs redirect to the canonical URLs right away.
    • Each one of the posts on your site includes a canonical link in its head, telling Google what the real post URL is, and what it should index.

my 404 Redirection Plugin shows 404 Errors on some deleted Pages for that tracking url.

This may indeed happen for 12 hours after a post has been deleted. Jetpack’s Related Posts store results for each post for 12 hours, so a deleted post may still appear as a Related Post at the bottom of another post for 12 hours after it’s been deleted.

    I hope this helps!

    Heya there,

Thanks for the Response Jeremy. I ll have a look into it and i think i gonna leave it as it is. Just one more question. The Title-Tag of the Related Posts take a long Description of the Related Post itself. Is this common? Other Related Post Plugins just use the Title for the “Title” Tag in Images.

I can’t really for other Related Posts plugins I’m afraid. We tried to make our Related Posts as accessible as possible for all users, even when using a screen reader; that’s why we decided to add more details in there. This should be helpful for everyone.

Removing that excerpt isn’t going to be easy though, as it’s also injected via JavaScript.
