Remove “This field is required. Please select a value.”

    I have required fields. The error message has been left blank on purpose. Before the user chooses an option, it says in red, “This field is required. Please select a value.” I would like to disable that red error message until AFTER the person tries to hit the Next button without making a choice. It doesn’t do it for the first question, but it does it for every question after that.

    I hope you are doing well today.

    The message “This field is required. Please select a value.” will show up only if that radio button or checkbox is required and the end-user will click SUBMIT or NEXT if the value was not selected. Based on your description it seems that this message is showing up before the NEXT button is pressed. If so it will mean something is not right.

    Can you export your form, upload it to google drive, share a link in your next reply so that we could be on the same page? Also, please share data about which checkbox or radio buttons we talk about in that form.

    Thank you for response!

    I checked and could see the issue on your site.

    I couldn’t replicate it initially because I tried with “radio” type field which is working as expected.

    But on your site it’s a “checkbox” type field and that field, indeed, does seem to be misbehaving – I could also replicate that on my own setup. I checked and I can confirm that this is a bug and it is already reported to our Forminator Team so developers are aware of it.

    They’ll be working on a fix to be included in one of future releases but I don’t really have ETA yet.

    As for now, workaround for that is to either set one of the checkbox options a selected by default (user will still be able to change that selection) – but that will also mean that if they skip selection, that default option will be submitted as their choice.

    Or to disable “Inline validation” option in form’s behavior settings – this will remove those errors and show validation messages only after user clicks “Submit” button (not even the “next/previous” but form submit).
