I’m importing a rather large site with Thousands of articles into WP. I have a way to import the data but the problem is that in order to import the data I have to run the bulk updater and MANUALLY enter something into the meta description and meta title fields & save them before it will populate the correct fields in the wp_postmeta to be able to import the data.

Is there a way to alter the if ! Empty directive and force it to auto populate a single word to make the import faster/easier?

  • Hi,

We would like some more information.

    A. Are you trying to import Yoast SEO data from one site to another?

    B. Can you elaborate more on how you are trying to import the meta description and titles? Are you using a plugin to move data around? Are you copying the database from one site and pasting it into another? Or are you using some other method?

    C. Are both sites WordPress?

    D. If so, is everything updated?

Hi Pcosta88, Thank you for your reply.

    A. Importing from vB 4.x
    B. I used a Left Join directive in MySQL.
    C. No.
    D. Yes

When the Yoast Bulk Updater is Run it populates the Necessary fields to Import To.

The yoast bulk updater won’t run, unless you fill in EACH field. I have over 14K fields to fill in to force it to populate. Which is why I want to remove the ! Empty and replace it with a default text word: SEO

Once the field has been populated, I can quickly and easily transfer my existing post metadata into the Meta_value field using LEFT JOIN.

    Hi,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. This is a bug. We would expect Yoast to output a title in the database instead of leaving it blank. We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with our plugin. A bug report is currently open with our development team for this issue.

We also understand you are looking for a workaround. We suggest commenting on it to be kept aware of updates as you can expect a response from our developers regarding the issue. You may need to make an account in order to comment.

If you have further information or would like to follow the progress of the report, you can do that here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/12565
