Not talking about removing posts or pages but rather specific categories.

My site uses a number of internal categories for filtering reasons (e.g. filter geotagged posts on a map). My theme filters out display of these “internal use” categories and it makes sense not to have the category included in the sitemap

i.e. to prevent e.g. https://example.com/category/HiddenCategory/ being included in the site map (where “HiddenCategory” is an internal use category).

    Same for tags.

    Hi @psamathe,

You can exclude a certain category by editing it via a Yoast SEO Metabox and set it to noindex.

    Steps are as follows:

    1. Edit the category.
    2. Go to Yoast SEO Metabox > Advanced tab.
    3. Set Allow search engines to show this Category in search results? to No.
    4. Click Update to save the changes.

This should exclude the particular category from appearing in a sitemap.
