    Hi!

We’ve used smush in the past, but stopped using it. I noticed that there are still many entries in the wp_postmeta table related to mush, with the following meta keys:

    • smush-marked
    • wp-smush-ignore-bulk
    • wp-smush-resize_savings
    • smush-stats
    • smush-info
    • smush-complete
    • wp-smush-lossy
    • wp-smpro-smush-data

These account for about 10% of wp_postmeta entries. Can these be removed safely, now that Smush is no longer used, or will this change the way the posts are displayed?

    Best regards and thanks, Roel

    Hi @rolekwp,

I hope you are keeping well and thank you for reaching out to us.

Smush does offer a configuration option where you can choose whether to keep the data or delete it all upon uninstallation. You can locate this setting at Smush >> Settings >> Data & Settings.

To address the issue, I recommend reinstalling the plugin and ensuring that the “Delete” option under Smush >> Settings >> Data & Settings >> Uninstallation is enabled. Then, proceed with uninstalling the plugin.

That should help with removing all the data associated with the Smush plugin from the database.

Please feel free to get back to us if you need any further clarification.

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John

Thanks for the clear instructions! I followed them, and some of the entries are now gone from the wp_postmeta table, but the following keys still exist:

    • smush-marked (1)
    • wp-smush-ignore-bulk (2)
    • smush-stats (4990)
    • smush-info (5178)
    • smush-complete (5178)

Should these have also been removed? If not, I know how to remove them manually, I’m just not sure if it’s safe to do so.

    Thanks, Roel

    Hello @rolekwp,

These keys were created the previous Smush versions, and it’s OK to remove them manually by running SQL queries. Please make sure to backup the database first.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Best Regards,
    Dmytro

Thanks for your help! I’ve removed them by hand.

After looking at the values of these meta keys it turns out that smush-info is created by WP-Optimize, and smush-stats is created by re-smush-it, so sorry to have bothered you!
