Remove Sidebars in GeneratePress that won’t remove

I don’t have any desk pad on my website at the moment, but I remember in Customize > Layout there’s a choice for each page type: post, archive, etc. the options in real-time preview:
Left sidebar/content
Sidebar/content/sidebar
Content/right sidebar
No sidebar
It doesn’t work?

Nope using NO SIDEBAR in the custom area does not remove the two stock default widgets…. Search and Archives!

I used a PHP code below but the space of the two widgets are still being used up and not allowing my pages to expand to fill the whole page across.

add_filter( ‘generate_show_default_sidebar_widgets’, ‘__return_false’ );

Not a good fix!

The customizer option should absolutely work.

Can you confirm that the sidebar layout in the customizer is set to Content (no sidebars)?

Then make sure the metabox setting is set to default:

Yes, what I found out after my brain kicked in was in each page there is a Layout tab that has the settings to change the pages layout and this also includes the sidebars as well. Thanks for all the reply’s!
