Remove side bar from certain pages

    I am trying to work out how to display the sidebar only on one page and posts. I have looked everywhere in customizing to change this but nothing works. When i remove everything from the Post side bar it still shows but with nothing in it. Can someone point me in the right direction. I only want it to display on the blog and posts pages. Thanks in advance
