remove secondary menu

I pointed the secondary menu in the left sidebar to a menu with no items, but it still seems rather large and has multiple rows. Is it possible to eliminate this menu from twenty fourteen?

Alternately, what would be a similar recomendation for a theme? I like the way the menu in twenty fourteen can be nested with sub-categories (and it seems very easy to use).
