    Hello,

I have installed the W3CSSPress theme, and believe it will be ideal for the site that I am developing – in particular the fact that it makes full use of the page width. However, there is one issue – the “Search” boxes at the top of each page, and the message that says “0 responses to “1. Search – Database (version 2)” at the bottom of each page. Both of these elements are a problem, since my site uses a separate searching mechanism, related to another data-handling plugin. Can you therefore describe the adjustments and settings that need to be made to remove these two elements.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Nigel

Hi @rc169 , sorry for the huge delay, I didn’t notice the message.

I think I din’t fully understand your question, can you provide me a screenshot of the problem? (I mean, for the second issue)

For the search box it is possible to remove it by using a child theme with a custom header, or I can make it optional (I was thinking about this some time ago), if needed I can provide an example

    Hello Matteo,

    Thanks for your message.

On the “Home” page, there is a “Search” box above the “Home” title; similarly for the page entitled “1. Search – Database (version 2)”, and on that page there is also a message at the bottom of the page which reads ‘0 responses to “1. Search …’; and I have also created a screenshot of a results page which has the message ‘0 responses to “2. Selected route data”‘.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no way for me to attach a screenshot here to demonstrate the problem, which makes this correspondence rather difficult! I’m not sure what WordPress were thinking of there! File uploading is disabled here, and the site I am working on is not public yet, so that an URL is not going to help. Perhaps you know of another route for me to send the screenshots?

    Thanks again,

    Nigel

    Hi @rc169 ,

made some tests, I think I got the point, correct me if I am wrong.

For the second issue the problem is related to how the WordPress title for comments is generated, so it is independent from the theme itself.

To solve the problem you should use the FSE site editor to remove the comments template under the single post template and under the page template.

The same thing can be done for the search bar on the header, by editing each template.

For the classic version of the theme (the one without the FSE editor and without the blocks) I recognize that the search bar should be made optional with a flag on the Customizer, I will add it on next versions of the theme.

If the issue still persists or if you have more feel free to contact me.

P.S. to attach an image you should use an external service, www.remarpro.com seems to not accept the upload of attachments.

    Hello Matteo,

    Thanks – that works perfectly!
