• I have transferred my domain to GoDaddy, and they are saying that I need to remove my privacy from my domain so that my domain can be fully transferred. How do I access my privacy settings in WordPress? Not sure what version of wordpress I have. It is no where to be found on my dashboard…

  • Are you sure they aren’t referring to a domain privacy/protection service that you may have opted for when you purchased your domain?

“If your domain name has private registration, a service that hides your personal information from the public, you cannot verify your admin email address in the Whois database. You must contact your current registrar to cancel the private registration, and then you can update the email address…”

Who did you transfer your domain from? If it is the link in your profile, it looks like your domain is with FastDomain, Inc (Bluehost).

    1. Login to your Control Panel (at Bluehost), search for the domain name and proceed to the Order Information view.
    2. Click the Privacy Protection link
    3. Here you may enable/disable Privacy Protection using the toggle.
    4. Click the Update Status button.

Geoffrey I think you are looking at my other website. I am talking about a different wordpress site in which my domain was transferred from wordpress to godaddy…

And now that I think about it, I think I did purchase the privacy protection service which was from wordpress…

If you registered the domain and the privacy option through WordPress(.com) at one time, it would most likely be something you can control from your user account settings at wordpress.com.

    If that’s the case, this info might help get you pointed in the right direction;

OKay..so I checked all of that, and the only option I get to change the privacy protection is to edit contact information. There is no option to turn the privacy protection on of off.

This is a copy and paste from what is said when I click “Edit Contact Info”:

This domain is currently using Privacy Protection to keep your information from showing up in public record searches. If you need to make a change to your domain’s contact info, please contact support.

What would be my next step…???

My best guess would be that this process might include those instructions somewhere along the line. https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/#preparing-the-domain-transfer

There are also some details regarding domain Privacy settings in this information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/update-contact-information/

If none of that proves helpful, you may want to start a support thread or an inquiry with wordpress.com support.

The message appears to be asking you to contact support at wordpress.com to complete the process.

I have contacted the wordpress support for the same issue and am waiting for a reply, since yesterday. Has a solution come out of this thread at all? Thank you, Severien
