i have tried editing the footer.php file and removed it from the builder editor too but it still remains. This plugin is not compatible with the theme. How on earth can i remove this please?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello,

I’m not entirely sure what you are asking to remove? The text? The plugin? Please can you explain a bit more?

    What theme are you using?

The current list of compatible themes can be found here and if your theme is not listed then we can add support for it if you let us know which theme it is.

    Thank you.

Hi Oliver thanks for the reply.

I am wanting to remove the “powered by wordpress” text and link in the footer. I have tried editing the footer.php with no joy and i have tried a few plugins that have not worked. I am wondering if there is any updates to this plugin to include the new 2023 theme or if a workaround has been found yet.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Aha.

OK. So do not edit the footer.php file. In fact this definitely won’t work with Twenty Twenty-Three because it’s a block theme and block themes do not work the same way as classic themes (not that you should have been editing theme files with classic themes!).

This is how you remove the text with a block theme …

    1. Click “Dashboard – Appearance – Editor” or “Edit Site” in the admin bar on the site when signed in.
    2. On the left, click “Template Parts – Footer”
    3. Click on the “Proudly powered by?WordPress” paragraph block and then you can edit it to say what you want or click the three vertical dots in the menu and click “Remove Paragraph”
    4. Finally, click “Save” and “Save” again.

    Done.

Thanks again for the help Oliver. I have already removed it from there in the editor. i have completeley deleted the full row from there but it still remains. I am at a complete loss with this.

    Thanks in advance

Sounds like you have some kind of cache.

Deleting the text as per the above 100% works for your theme.

If you are aware of a cache then try purging it or turning it off altogether.

    Marking this as “resolved” now.

    Thanks Oliver, that worked perfectly.

Should I assume the plugin is not needed for the ‘block themes’?

Correct. I cannot think of a situation with Block Themes where this plug-in would be required seeing as the Site Editor is now able to allow users to manager their own footer content entirely.
