Under taxonomies sitemap settings – the last tab under XML Sitemap Settings – the [ Format (post_format) ] option is no longer available. This means the post types show in their sitemap automatically. Was this intentional? I can’t see that it was intentional.

Thanks for any help! I didn’t want to bog down github comments with this.

Private taxonomies do not appear in the list. This most likely means something in your setup has changed the taxonomy from public to private. You can manually exclude private taxonomies by adding some custom code (example found here) to your site.

If you’d like to determine what specifically changed the taxonomy, a conflict check will help. If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we wrote a small guide that will walk you through the steps. You can find it here: How To Check For Plugin Conflicts

Thanks for your follow-up! I’ll look into this – good insight. It looks like it may have switched to private somehow. I think it may have disappeared as an option b/c I had the post-format archives disabled in yoast settings. I reinstated them, and the sitemap option reappeared. I disabled the sitemap option, and then disabled the taxonomy archives again. Sure enough the sitemap option disappears again.

Thanks for your help in sorting this out!!

Let me know if you have any questions for me in trying to sort this out on your end. I tried this exact set of events I describe above in another site and the same thing happened. So if we disable the format-based archives before choosing not to show it in the sitemap, then they will appear in the sitemap, even though they are disabled.

    Cheers!

Can you please open an issue in our GitHub repository for Yoast SEO? Thanks!

If you have not submitted an issue previously, this guide will help you submit a complete report which may result in a faster resolution.
