Remove post tags

Hello, I am running my website on wordpress Howtoconnect. I want to remove post-tags from the area below content in single post. I tried many things for this, but i don’t know not getting success. Read many threads, but are not working for me. First thing i tried with the help of css, so that i could hide the tags appearing at the bottom of the content. the code of css is .post-category, .post-tags {
display:none;
}.
But not got. After that with filtering through function. But all gone trifles. Please anybody suggust me how can i remove.
