    Update: It looks like the social settings for date will remove the date for SERP. Great job with this guys!

    Good morning.

    Is there a way to remove the date timestamp from the SERP?

    Our website is Bible based, so that content is not time sensitive. However, I do like the original published date on the article for our readers, yet this information is really irrelevant in the SERP.

    Is there a way to remove the date in this case?

    Hello!

    Google doesn’t seem to read social metadata. They obtain the date via all these methods:

    • Visible on-page date annotations;
    • Hidden structured data;
    • The URL.

    You’ll have to remove those signals for Google to remove the date from the SERP. Please keep in mind that it takes some time for Google to reprocess your pages.

    Now, because you want to show the publication date on your site, I’m afraid Google can still pick up on it (and use it, annoyingly). For more information, please refer to this article.

    Sybre, thanks for the response even though I closed the case.

    Maybe things are changing…

    I verified one of my pages in SERP (Google specifically) had the timestamp. I removed the checkmarks for social media date publication in your plugin.

    I then had Google recrawl the page, and the updated SERP result no longer had the date. I wrote a new description to verify the update as well.

    Just an FYI so you are aware.

    Thanks so much for all your help.
