• on my home page i’ve got a white box which is where I think the page title would go. I’ve suppressed page titles from appearing but I can’t get rid of the box.

The problem is now worse as I put the site title above the navigation bar and now I have the box where the site title formerly sat and I can’t get rid of that. It’s in the stage site so I can’t show you that one. However you should get an idea from the url version above.

Some help that i have read indicates that if you go to Appearance – editor you can edit from there. I don’t have appearance – editor, I do have appearance – theme file editor, which doesn’t seem to help me.

    Appreciate any help, thank you.

    Hi there,

The ‘white box’ is the background color of the header and content elements. You can remove the color under Customize > Colors > Header/Content > Background.

Thank you. I don’t want to change the colour though I want to remove the space so that the first block is higher up the page. Can I do that?

    Hi there,

when building a full width page, you should set the page Content Container to Full Width:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/content-container/

This not only makes the page 100% wide it will remove the themes padding

And to remove the Title output by the theme you should disable it in the editor:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/disable-elements-overview/

Doing both of those actions will remove the extra space above and below your page content.

Oh that’s interesting, thanks! I’ll go and do that now.

Btw I don’t have GP premium will that be a problem?

Those options are available in the free theme, GP Premium plugin is not required ??

    ok great.

I’ve done the first bit so the page is full width and the rectangle is now all the way across the page.

However for the second section, I don’t have: appearance – elements and/or can’t find how to access the editor.

Are you able to guide me on that?

    Thanks so much,

    ying

You do not need Disable elements to disable title, the disable title option is available in post/page editor, just below the content container option.

Hi, I have disabled the title, if that means it no longer appears on the page. However when I did that (a while ago) I had to use some custom CSS. So at the moment the page title is not visible and I have a white space that is now full width across the home page (in the staging site). I am still stuck as to how to get rid of the space itself. The instructions given above seem clear but they don’t seem to correspond with what I see on my dashboard. I wonder if I might be missing something.
Could a plugin be preventing me from seeing any editing options?
I am using Spectra as a page builder, could that be preventing me from seeing GP editing options?

Very grateful for your response, thank you,

The Disable Title option should be at the bottom as shown in this screnshot:

Thanks Alvind, i have actually disabled the title. What i am left with is the box that the title and that the header sat in and I need to remove those

Can you confirm you have set the Content Container to Full Width and checked the Disable Content Title?
If you have, are those changes published and can you clear any caches

As currently i do not see those changes on the URL provided

    Hi David,

I’m currently making the changes in the staging site, but I’m about 15 minutes away from publishing that site so I’ll be able to give you the url. Thank you.

Hi, I’ve updated the site now with the staging site and this is how the home page looks:

I do not see the page being set to full width or the title being disabled.

If you did make the changes, make sure all cache is cleared or try disabling your cache plugins.

ok, let me check, thank you.
