    Hi,
I’ve watch the out of stock video’s, however the question that i have is – if i add 10 to the manage stock at product level, i understand that it will allow that product to show up on the catalog – however when it actually does run out of stock – i still want it to be removed from he catalog. How can that happen?

This is causing quite a few issues with our store. The staff love the plugin, but we wont be able to continue to use it if we can’t resolve this issue.

Looking forward to your quick reply,
    Steph

    Hi Steph,

Thank you very much for your post.

I am sure we can get this solved, but I have to ask some questions, first.

Would you tell me what product type we are talking about, please? Is it variable? What are the variations? Full example would be great.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks for your reply Pavel.

I’m not really sure what screenshots I can give you, however let me run through it step by step.

    1. we are talking about variations, so this is the particular video that I have watched – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrEb3MmeyDE
    2. Say I have a product with 3 variations. in you example, you mention that to fix the out of stock override you just add a random number of stock to the product level.
that’s fine for making it show up on the catalog, however
    3. lets say I started off with 2 of each stock managed in the variations. what happens when all 3 products sell out?

My assumption is that by adding 10 into the stock at product level – the product will still appear in the catalog even after the variations have sold out.

if this assumption is correct, how do we rectify this?

The goal is to manage products by variations and to be able to edit them via the ATUM plugin, but to still ensure that when an item is sold out it no longer is shown in the catalog.

I hope this makes more sense?

    Hi Steph,

Thank you very much for your reply.

No screenshot needed. By an example I meant exactly what you did. Thank you.

I would like you to test this scenario in your shop. What you have seen in the video and what you need is not really related to ATUM.

    Let me explain:

When you add a number to the variable you only tell WooCommerce to show the variable in the category view. It does not tell WC to show it as in stock. You control the stock within the variable by its variations.

So when you sell one variation out, that variation will show out of stock. If you sell them all out, all will show out of stock. However, because you have a number in the variable it will still be visible in the category view of your shop. Do you know what I mean. Please, check and test, but I am pretty sure it is correct.

Variable is not a product unless it has variations. My video was trying to help users fake the WooCommerce ‘weird’ coding ;-), no offence meant towards WC devs of course.

Hope it helps Steph. Let me know for sure.

    Hi Pavel,

Thanks so much for your reply.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t answer my question it’s actually my point.

Because there is a number in the manage stock at product level (which the video suggests to fix the WC coding) then it will still show up in the catalog even when all variations are sold out.

This is what I want to avoid. I only want products to be visible in the catalog if they have variations in stock. If variations are out of stock, I don’t want it to show up in the catalog at all.

Can you please confirm how I can do this?
    Thanks

    Hi Steph,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am very sorry to keep you waiting. It was a simple misunderstanding with my team where we both thought we replied. The ticket is marked resolved so we did not pick each other’s fault up. Please, accept my sincerest apology.

We have this stock instance as a main point of a meeting for next Tuesday. Let me explain; the WooCommerce code is really difficult here. What we have done is to fake the code to show the product, but you need to remove this after selling out. So you don’t even want the product with an out of stock message. I find this very bad for UX, so I have decided to call a meeting with my senior dev and find a way to rebuild this mad WC code.

I am very optimistic and can say that the fix will be in the next update. Please, keep an eye on the change log.

Once again, I am very sorry for any inconvenience caused by our late reply.

    Yours sincerely,

    Pavel

    Hi Guys,
It’s almost been a month since this ticket was raised and i havent really been given an outcome. My team really wants to continue to use this plugin, but I really need to be able to come up with a solution. It is making our job a lot harder right now.

    Hi Steph,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am very sorry you feel disappointed and very sorry this makes your job hard.

Please, read this reply where I explain what we are doing and at the end I offer a go around solution.

Please, you have to understand that we are trying our best to help all users. Your issue is lot more complicated than you or us thought. This is how WooCommerce works since the start of Variable products. We have not found an easy way of hacking WooCommerce so it does not compromise other features we want to introduce or other users that have their shops setup differently than yours. The problem for your way of selling is the manage stock features that belongs to WooCommerce.

However, we have decided work out a new way and to completely avoid the manage stock feature and hope this will resolve yours and many other problems WooCommerce developers did not think of when designing. The new way of working will change the whole ATUM core and it will take time to get done.

Untill we start with its development, I cant tell you how simple and quick the result will be. I will only ask you for your patience. We are only a small team that is making ATUM full business solution step by step.

We are currently completing the Dashboard and Invoicing feature and I hope we will have both done within a week or two. The new manage stock system that will rebuild the ATUM core will start right after that.

Once again, i am very sorry Steph that you can not fully use the ATUM features.

PS: the only solution I can suggest for you here is to turn ATUM Manage Stock off in the settings. Go to your variable product and un-select the Manage Stock At Product Level from the Inventory Tab. Go to WooCommerce settings and chose to hide out of stock products.

This will solve your issue, however, the variable product will not be visible in Stock Central.

The products you want to see in stock central have to have the manage stock at product level checked.

Once again, I apologise that we were not able to help you for now.

    Best Regards,

    Pavel
