If your Windows XP no longer supports browsers that WordPress requires as of version 4.8, we already might.

We’re throwing the error in Yoast SEO because soon we will start requiring PHP 5.3. It’s that simple.

Also: you can get rid of it, update your PHP version. PHP 5.6 is the only version still getting security updates, no lower official version exists.

Well.. guess who’s loosing potential clients and who’s not? .. you just lost a bunch for forcing your ideas on others ..

And again.. it’s not an “error” it’s a notice.

I noticed it .. and since i cannot remove the notice.. i removed your plugin .. from all our clients and replaced it with “All in one SEO pack” ??

The fact that you’d rather replace software your customers are used to than update to a recent version of PHP speaks boatloads about the quality of your service.

Point of order: the statement “PHP 5.6 is the only version still getting security updates” is technically not correct. PHP 5.3 and 5.4 are still receiving backported security updates from Red Hat (and thus CentOS, Scientific, etc.) until November 2020 and June 2024, respectively.

“Not supported by the original author” is not the same as “not supported”; such is the beauty of open source software.

For your reflection, this is what Joomla and Drupal do:

    For your reflection too :

Did you notice the top right X on the corner?

Again.. it’s not about letting us/everyone know about the upgrade .. it’s about NOT beeing able to dismiss your notice.

Hi there, I have removed some recently left comments directed at Joost which were intentionally insulting on a deeply personal level.

Considering that, I think it’s time to close this topic.

If anyone does choose to continue this discussion, we ask that you please conduct it in a civil manner.
