    Hello!

You can remove pages from the sitemap using the indexing directive: Apply noindex to the page, and the page will be removed from the sitemap.

I have discovered the same issue. The canonical URL is in The SEO Framework but the page is still listed on the site map.

    Hello!

Sorry for abandoning this thread abruptly.

To clarify: When a canonical URL of a page points elsewhere, the page isn’t indexable. We do not check for the canonical URL in the sitemap but only for the indexing and redirection states. Setting a post to noindex will remove it from the sitemap, but search engines can still read the canonical URL.

In rare cases, you may want a page with an outbound canonical URL in the sitemap. This is an SEO hack; the gist is that search engines will spot the canonical URL change quickly.
