Remove mailto from link

Dear author,

I want to forward visitors to a contactform and not distribute email addresses on the page. But you have declared a mailto: in front of the field, therefore I cant put in a link to a contact form. Please tell me how to remove the mailto statement and how to turn this plugin into a child, so I don’t lose my tweaks as soon as an update comes out.
