Remove Image size preset settings in core image block

I’m afraid there isn’t a way to only disable the image size preset settings.

You could disable the entire “Image Dimensions” option which would remove both the presets and the “width” and “height” controls (which might or might not be what you want). You could use the wp.hooks.addFilter('blocks.registerBlockType', 'some/namespace', <your_filter_here>) filter for this.

Thank you @czapla ! I have been researching to find a way to disable the entire “Image Dimensions” option using the block hooks, but no luck. Would you know how I can disable it using the filter hook? or can you point me in the right direction?

I’ve looked a little bit more into it and actually the core/image block currently has a technical limitation which prevents the user from removing the “Image Dimensions” using the blocks.registerBlockType filter. I will fix it in the Gutenberg codebase but for the meantime you can use a workaround ??

The workaround would be to create a custom block and use it to wrap the Image block. I’ve quickly scaffolded and tested such a custom block using @wordpress/create-block. The block that I’ve created is in this repository. You can just download the code and put it in your plugins directory and activate the plugin.

Yup, that’s the relevant bit together with https://github.com/michalczaplinski/image-wrapper/blob/main/src/block.json#L20:

which disables the Image Diemensions panel in the Image block.
