remove Image Links

Hi

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Is there any way that image on the main product page and on the category page can be created WITH NO LINKS?
I have tried every thing on this page and more but nothing works

I and many people are asking the same question and they have an editable media properties file which they are told to use. and yes, I have set the image_default_link_type to “None”

Getting a bit desperate to remove the image links on the main image and the image that is on view on the category page.
