• I am not sure, but this may be a JetPack feature. When I want to insert an image block, I insert the image block, then click on Select Image. Which produces a drop-down selector “Metia Library, Google Photos, Pexels Free Photos.” Is it possible to remove the two external source options and directly open the Media Library? One-click Media Library access will be great. The UI has gotten a little too click-happy for some reason. One-click preview now takes two in a similar way.

    Thank you,

    Cemal

    Hi @acekin

That is indeed how those features are intended to work, but you do make a salient point about the extra clicks.

Thank you for the feedback, we’ll pass that along for you.

Thank you, @bruceallen. To quote Mr. Spock, “Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”

@acekin Thanks for the feedback. It’s true those options may not be useful for everyone.

Based on your feedback, I published this little post that should help you if you’d rather disable these features on your own site:
    https://jeremy.hu/jetpack-remove-external-media-block-editor/

    Hopefully that helps!

@jeherve, I appreciate the tip. Thank you. “A functionality plugin,” you say, but it goes over my head! I would like to use this modification, but I don’t want to botch up the site. Could you give me, and other users like me a little more hint as to where to place the code snippet?

    Thank you, much appreciated.

Sure thing. There are 2 main ways to add snippets to your site without making too much of a mess:

    1. If you use a child theme, you can add each code snippet to your theme’s functions.php file.
    2. If you do not use a child theme, I would recommend against pasting code snippets in your theme’s functions.php file. Indeed, you would then lose your customizations as soon as you update your theme. Instead, I would recommend using a plugin that’s especially made to help you manage code snippets on your site. You can read more about this here.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you again, @jeherve, the plugin, and the code snippet worked like a charm. One-click access to the media collection! Now, if there is a snippet to bypass the multi-click preview …

    Thank you very much.

I’m afraid that’s not an option at the moment, but that may change in the future. I would recommend following this GitHub issue to follow the discussions around this core WordPress feature:
    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/23126

Edit: I see now that you already know about the issue since you opened a related one:
    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/24584

I assume both will be updated when the team gets around to iterating on that Preview button.

Thanks, Jeremy, and all, for keeping these issues alive. After a while, though, without sufficient interest, the flame seems to die. I remember the Tiled Gallery issue I reported quite a while ago.

I appreciate all the help and the products you are providing. My comments and reports are my simple ways to contribute t their improvement.
