remove forums from search engines

    These forums should be removed from search or Google indices.

    Most results are three + years old and unresolved. They’re entirely usless and obfuscate content. Remove forums from search engines.

    Forums on https://www.remarpro.com are feature poor and lack good filtering or community services. They should be removed from search engines so an alternative will gather audience.

    I personally find it very helpful that the forums show up when doing a Google search for anything WordPress. Even though some of the posts do not spoon feed me the absolute answer every time, they do help me out and point me a new direction more times than not.

    More times than not, absolutely and without doubt they do not have resolution. There’s no weighting or quality statement so they dilute other sites or material in search engines.

    70% of posts should be removed from outside search engines.

    Not true and searching for help on a problem is encouraged. You have to remember that “S E O” hits here do not matter at all. What does matter is that end users can come here for support and searching on the Internet does get users here regardless of statistics.

    The email I just received with your post didn’t markup your comment vs quote. It’s poor software.

    Run a search on Google for “wp_nav_menu custom link”. There’s page after page of indistinguishable results.

    Results aren’t grouped on Gpogle because no one bothered to use sitemaps xml standards. What does “Nope” mean?

    Post here. I can promise you that insults other than constructive criticism will result in replies you are not looking for (or no replies at all). All posts in the Feedback are viewed by the admins, developers, moderators and editors of WP.ORG. It is up to the individual if they want to acknowledge you by replying.

    After the 6th reply to your original post, there is no more constructive progress other then small personal jabs. Your original point was made and noted for all to see. There is no point in continuing the thread.

    Csh844447, Just be aware that this request affects a lot of people who put hard work on the forums supporting people, motivated that they are helping a larger audience than just the 1 person asking for help. Going ahead and contacting a site admin without first discussing it with the frequent volunteers of the forum may be the wrong way to go.

    Following people home, as it were, and contacting them off the forums to demand changes is actually a good way to be banned for harassment.

    We wont remove the forums from search engines as they remain useful to a great number of people. They are a beneficial resource to the community, even when you consider out of date answers, as they can help you understand how to solve newer issues on your own.

    At this time, no, we won’t remove the forums from search engines.

    That’s definitely a misinterpretation Ipstenu. It’s clear the forums benefit a large audience and serve many people contributing to improvements or working through issues for WordPress. That’s great and very useful!

    However, the site doesn’t look to have updated search technologies (the search box on the left) or index strategy in years. Maybe I’m wrong. But your result is all the worlds’ search results point here. That’s a bigger audience than your forum traffic. And this is already the authoritative WordPress site.

    Results older than a couple years should not be on outside search engines. www.remarpro.com shouldn’t list more than a couple results per page. www.remarpro.com’s search engine should be updated so people use it. If you don’t see that you’re confused about the technology or unsure about software improvements.

    Any other site and it’d get banned.
