Remove /filter/ from permalinks

Hi,
I’m sorry to post this as i’m sure the answer is quite simple – but i’m finding it hard to search for because of the proliferation of the term “filter”.
I’m using a portfolio post type that is sorted by filters. I have my permalinks set to /%postname%/.
In my menu i have links to each of these filters.
Therefore:
My urls are like
https://marklawlerarchitects.com.au/tempsite/filter/additions/How do i make it
https://marklawlerarchitects.com.au/tempsite/additions/Cheers
