Remove Facebook and Twitter fields from user profile

  • After searching everywhere:

    How do I REMOVE Facebook, Twitter and other contact fields in user profile. Fields which ‘unset’ has no effect on.7

    P.S

    Without a plugin please.

    Can you please elaborate on what user profile you are talking about?

    I’m a little confused because on a default self-installed WordPress user profile, there is no contact field regarding Twitter, Facebook, etc.

    There is this:

    Visual Editor
Admin Color Scheme
Keyboard Shortcuts
Toolbar
Name
Username
First Name
Last Name
Nickname (required)
Display name publicly as
Contact Info
E-mail (required)
Website
About Yourself
Biographical Info
New Password
Repeat New Password

    And, as you can see, no Twitter, Facebook, or any other social networking contact field.

    That’s weird :/

    Maybe it was added by my theme? I’m using Avada

    Edit: I didn’t find anything about it in search. I have contacted Avada support.

    It is more than likely that your theme or a plugin might have added it in as a feature. Does swapping to a default WordPress theme clear the issue? Does deactivating your plugins?

    Please update us when you find out?

    I actually tried another default install and I still couldn’t see the social networking custom fields.

    Indeed, switching to one of the default themes made the fields vanish ??

    EMG, I was surprised to see that you went that many clicks far and tried a default install just to help me out, without even know me or something.

    I don’t know if helping others here in the forum is a job which gets paid but nevertheless, what you did is really nice buddy. Thank you very much.

    Thank you so much for reporting back and thank you for your kind words; it made me smile and after having a not-so-great-week, I really needed it! ??

    That said, we are all unpaid volunteers here on these forums and that includes me.

    I have used WordPress for a little over 5 years now (still not so hot with PHP, though – LOL!) and I really love and am passionate about what WordPress can do. I enjoy helping others on the forum if I can because I want for people to get the best that they can get out of WordPress, too.

    A word of advice in case you run into other problems in the future:

    – Using a default WordPress theme

    and

    – Deactivating all plugins

    can be very useful in troubleshooting WordPress website issues.

    Got it.

    I hope your week will get better from now on and even if not – here in Israel, where life is a bit tense, there is nothing like the weekend to let everything go and do something meaningful and inspiring! I wish your weekend will be like that.
