You should be able to achieve this by editing the Board Member role from within WordPress. Take a look at the Members plugin. Within that plugin you can remove the capabilities of board members, while still allowing them to serve on the board.

Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

Once I’ve downloaded the Members plugin, how do I remove board members’ capability?

You’ll need to install the plugin. From there you’ll go to the Users >> Roles menu, and edit the Board Member role. Then you can uncheck the capabilities you don’t want the board members to have.

What roles should I have selected for board members to be able to view and RSVP to events and view committees without being able to edit? Thank you.

I’d recommend leaving serve_on_board turned on and see how that works for you. Then add in capabilities as needed to give board members the ability to make more changes.

Ok, I turned everything off except serve_on_board now that user can’t even see the board management plugin. What were the original privileges for a board member (should have taken a screenshot)

Hi Luiz, you can see the default capabilities by looking at https://pho.to/9SfXU.

We’ve never tested changing the capabilities in the way you’re looking to, so it might take some trial and error.

    Good luck.

Thanks! Here are the settings I found to work best just in case anyone is trying to do the same thing https://pho.to/9TMCm

Thanks a ton for posting the screenshot of your final settings Luiz. I’m sure it will help users in the future and I’m glad you were able to set it up how you wanted.
