This is a very good plugin. However, a source of irritation is that it comes with its own CSS styles which cannot be removed using the standard settings and need to be painstakingly overridden using individualised CSS rules.

    I’ll give some examples:

    • I am puzzled by the presence of an in-built #cff a:hover ( text-decoration: underline; } rule. Why assume that websites using this plugin would underline hyperlinks on mouseover? Certainly, my site doesn’t use this, and it is irritating that I should have to override that rule to preserve the consistency of my site’s appearance.
    • #cff h3, #cff h4, #cff h5, #cff h6, #cff p all have line-height: 1.4. Again, why? Is it assumed that every website on the planet uses 1.4 spacing? It certainly doesn’t fit with my site, which uses line-height: 1.8 for paragraph text.
    • A number of the “Text size: Inherit” settings in the plugin customiser do not appear to work. Even when all the text sizes are set to “inherit”, a number of selectors are still set by default to font-size: 11px (e.g. #cff .cff-date and #cff .cff-post-links). And I don’t want to set them to different pixel values within the plugin settings: my site uses ems for text, not pixels, so I want to set those sizes myself.

Of course it is possible to override these manually, but the point is that it really shouldn’t be necessary to do so. If I may make a suggestion, consider creating an option to remove in-built, non-essential styles using a single “Remove default styles” check box.

    Hey CW,

Thanks for the feedback and for taking the time to offer suggestions on how to improve the plugin, we really appreciate it! Most of the styles we include in the plugin are for structural/layout purposes and there are only a few which directly affect the styling of the text. I do agree that most of these styles could be omitted from the plugin though, and so will make a note to either remove them in the next update or add an option to disable all non-essential styles as you suggested.

Thanks again for the feedback, and if you have any more then just let us know.

    John
