• Any gallery experts out there? I’m just trying to get a site set up and will be using galleries to showcase photographs. As far as I can see I\ve disabled comments on the page, but when you link though to the galery itself, there’s stilla ‘comment’ box and also a box showing the metadata for each photo.

    How do I remove these?

    Sample page:

  • What gallery plugin are you using?

No plug-in, just using the built in ‘create gallery’ option when adding a photo to a page.

By default, WordPress does not produce any urls with fragments like #jp-carousel-399. Looks like this is being added by your commercial theme. I’m sorry but as you are using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not support commercial products here.
    Try https://colorlabsproject.com/support/

Oh, darn. I’m using a free template with very limited support. Thought these things were wordpress code rather than the template developer’s.

Oh well, thanks for the responses.

Actually, can I continue this discussion…

I’ve just changed my theme, and am now using WordPress’s own “2012” theme. Same thing happening.

Then you are using a gallery or lightbox plugin, yes? If you intend to continue using the 2012 theme, then you have two options:

    1. Disable comments globally and then enable comments on a per-post basis by unchecking “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. Then for each published Page or Post, checking “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

    2. Creating a child theme, adding a copy of image.php to the new child, editing it and removing <?php comments_template(); ?>.

The only plug-in I have is Jetpack.

Then I assume that Jetpack is handling your galleries. Either way, you still only have those two options.

Aha. Yes, it’s jetpack – the gallery option there is called “carousel”. Have managed to disable metadata, will carry on fiddling to rid myself of the comment box. (Disabling comments globally as you suggested doens’t seem to have worked.)
