Sorry for all the questions but I’m really new.

I have limited the menus on my users admin panel. So they only have a few things. However, I want them to have a few of the settings availble to them.

The problem is that if I enable the settings, it then shows them some of the plugin settings that I don’t want them to use. Is there to hide PLUGINs or move them to somewhere else?

  • Depends on the plugin, really.

you could knock down the userlevel of the users themselves, so they aren’t admins on the blogs. that usually knocks out the menus for plugin menus you don’t want them to see.

I will try that. I have quite a few plugins.
I just wandered if there is a way to move them to somewhere else?

The menu is usually created by the plugins… sooooo….. you’d have to edit the plugin.

Yes, there’s a plugin to disable certain plugins so users don’t *use* them, but that won’t do anything about the menus they create.

    Hey turncoat,

The User Role Editor plugin is a wonderful resource for reducing access to the plugins among other things. I recommend the Admin Menu Editor plugin for your menus show/hide options. Both are easy to use and effective.

    Hope that helps some.

Joshua – have you tested either in a multisite situation? User Role Editor has to be set up blog-by-blog, unless they recently added a network-wide function.

I just tried the Admin Menu Editor on a sandbox of WP3 Multisite and looks good, real good. I can promote any menu item’s cap to SuperAdmin. Haven’t figured out if I can hide menus even for SuperAdmin, but it is a slick interface nonetheless, with a support forum. Has a “pay to upgrade to pro” version, though ??

The Admin Menu Editor is perfect! Thanks!

Except that the Admin Emnu Editor doesn’t allow you to hide the Menu Editor item, which allows anyone to put back the menu items you remove.
