Remove Bracket Dot-Dot-Dot Bracket?

    When I use “the_excerpt()” for stories that don’t have an existing pre-written excerpt, each excerpt ends with […] — is there a way to change this?

    Is there a way to get the excerpt to pull just the first sentence?
