• Hi everybody,

I’m trying to remove the blog posts from the home page, since we would like to keep it static and display the blog posts only on the blog page. I’ve tried adjusting the settings, customizing the Front Page but did not get the result I wanted. I’d be really grateful if someone could help!

    The website is: https://www.islam-and-science.org/

    Thank you! ??

  • hello katrindinkel!

Have you tried using static front page from admin dashboard. For this you need to select two pages. One of which will be your desired front page and second one will show your blog posts.
Just go to admin dashboard=>appearance=>customize=>static front page => a static page.
There you can select your front page and blog post page and set it according to your will.

    Hi Bplv,

Thank you for your reply – yes, I’ve tried out several different settings on this ‘a static page’ setting. Here is what happens:

Currently, it’s on ‘a static page’, with the front page not being selected (hence, displaying in the dropdown: ‘select’), and the posts page is ‘blog’.

If I put the posts page on ‘select’ as well, the strange thing that happens is that the slider and three footer sections disappear and ONLY the blog posts show. I’ve also tried putting the front page on a page, let’s say ‘about’, then the slider and footer sections are there, and the text from the ‘about’ page shows underneath (where now there are the blog posts). Strange, isn’t it? All I want is the slider and footer sections..

Any other suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi again,

After writing the previous post here, I’ve been fiddling around some more and have solved the problem by adding an empty dummy page and put it as the front page. Not very elegant, but it works! There must be a better way out there, and if anyone knows it, I’d still be very interested in hearing about it!

    Cheers!

    Greetings,
I am sorry that you don’t feel the method elegant but in word-press if you are to assign a static front page, setting a front page and a blog page are the two very critical steps. They cannot be missed.

you can see more about static front pages here

    Regards,
    Bplv
