I use WordPress 5.0.2 and WordPress 2016 theme.
    WordPress 5.0.2 uses Gutenberg.

I want to remove the author name that appears before the list of categories and tags on posts in WordPress 2016. In the draft posts, the word “Author” appears by a drop down menu that lists names. I don’t want to use this drop down menu. There is no blank space in the drop down menu to let me choose no author.

I include the post’s author’s name in the story I publish; I just don’t want my name that is listed in the drop down menu to be on the post.

Am I supposed to add every author I publish to this drop down menu? I don’t want to have to do that. As the list of names grows, that would be a nightmare.

So, how do I deactivate the author selection so that no name appears before the tags and categories?

P.S. On my mobile website, sharenmcarthur appears after the title. On my desktop, as I stated above, it appears after the categories and tags on posts. However…I have discovered that sometimes my name appears and sometimes it doesn’t on my desktop web page. I know that sounds like it makes no sense, but it has occurred.
