    Hi there,
I used SMUSH a while back then I removed/deleted it.
Now I see that there are many files and folder with SMUSH name on it under wp-content.
How do I remove these files safely?

    Thank you so much

    Hi @mazinsukkar

I hope you are doing well.

Smush will only create the images if you are using the WebP, in case those images are the WebP version you can safely remove them ( entire folder ) as the htaccess/Nginx rule verify if the WebP version exists before doing the redirect.

However, removing the Rule and Images will make Google report “Serve images in NextGeneration” as the images will return to load as PNG/JPG.

    Best Regards
