• my theme is Edin. I know how to change the page layout to full view so that there are no sidebars. my problem is when “hidden” pages open with a side bar. as far as I know there is no menu or customization that allows me to remove the sidebar.

I am using pdf embedder premium secure to open pdf’s on a secure page so they cant be copied, saved or downloaded. the problem is that they open on a page that has a sidebar. I cannot figure out how to turn off the sidebar on these pages or other pages that are not shown on the menu or page structure. I have communicated with pdf embedder and he suggests that the theme probably controls this.

is there a simple way to remove the sidebar or will have I have to do some re-coding of those particular pages? is there a plugin that will allow me to control the sidebar on the hidden pages?

    thank you

  • Hi @cebuhasher,

There are two main options for customising your theme:

    1. Activate a custom CSS plugin or, if you have Jetpack installed, activate its custom CSS module. You can then hide the sidebar using custom CSS.
    2. Set up a child theme. You can then completely remove the underlying code for the sidebar.

The first option is the simplest but would mean that underlying code for the sidebar remains and loads with the page, but is hidden.

The second option is a bit more technical but would allow you to completely remove the sidebar.

Let me know which of the options you prefer. In addition, please provide me a link to your site so that I can access its underlying code and visit the specific page you’re referring to. I can guide you further from there.

I was able to remove the sidebar by going to appearance/widgets and removing the sidebars there.

Thank you for sharing and apologies for over-complicating the solution in my initial response.

I’d made the assumption that your sidebar widget area was already empty and that an empty sidebar area was being added in by your theme’s template files. I’ll be more careful to consider all possible options in future. ??

If you have any extra questions surrounding this theme, please don’t hesitate to post a new thread to this forum. A link to your site will be handy for future requests, also.
