Is there a WordPress API that I can use to check for and apply updates to themes, plugins, and even the WordPress core itself?

Say I have 50 WordPress sites that I manage. I don’t want to log into 50 WordPress dashboards. But I’d like to be able to check and see what version of WordPress is on each site, what plugins and themes are installed and if any need to be updated. If I have a list of those sites, and their admin username/password, is there an API I can use to quickly log into each WordPress site and give me the information I want?

This might not be the answer you’re looking for, but the Jetpack Manage module is pretty useful.

There’s also this that’s just bene made available. It’s a pretty hard-core solution, but it’s worked for that hosting company so should work for a smaller number of sites.

    Wow, that’s actually pretty cool
